The NYPD announces another new salary contract for Police Officers and total compensation will be $90,829 before overtime:

Salary:

Police Officers receive full pay and benefits from their first day of recruit training. The January 2009 Police Academy class will have a starting salary of $40,361 and goes to $41,975 on August 1, 2009.

The salary schedule (per annum) for Police Officers hired during the January 2009 class will be:

The base-pay will increase every year to $76,488 after 5.5 years. When including base pay, longevity pay, night shift differential, holiday pay, and uniform allowance, a Police Officer will earn $90,829 before overtime after 5.5 years of service.

This above chart is based on a salary rate effective July 31, 2010. This contract expires on July 31, 2010 and future contracts will be negotiated between NYC and the PBA.

Military Benefits

In addition, Military Personnel qualify for the following with G.I. Bill Benefits. Veterans whose period of active duty was more than three years can receive $1,075.00 per month while in the Academy and $913.75 per month for the six-month period following the Academy, $698.75 per month during the 2nd six months and $483.75 per month during the remaining six months. Select Reservists may also be eligible for G.I. Bill Benefits. The G.I. Bill Benefits are collected in addition to your salary. Your test scores will be kept indefinitely, while on active duty, allowing you to continue your enlistment until the end of the contract or even until retirement.
